How to Know If He Likes You

Too often, we make dating look like this:

We over analyze their actions. We have a million things running through our head trying to figure out if they actually like us or not. We observe their response time to our texts, how long it took them to call us after a date, what them watching our Instagram story means, and the true reason behind them Snapchatting us a picture of their cat. (He wouldn’t send a pic of Mr.Whiskers if he didn’t want to get married, right???)

I remember I used to obsess over whether I thought someone liked me or not. We all know how to become the next recruit for the FBI to know exactly what the other person is up to. Watching their friend’s snapchat or Instagram stories, looking at the stories for the location they said they were going to… it’s crazy! We send text messages from them in group chats or to our best friend to decode. Just to try and get a better read on if they’re into us like we are into them.

And then if there are things we don’t like, we make excuses for it. Response time longer than the acceptable amount? Well, he’s a work-a-holic! He’s super busy with being a young professional! He says he wants something serious, but won’t commit and likes to keep things casual? His ex did him dirty! He needs time to heal. We can make an excuse for any behavior because it’s easier to make up excuses than to feel rejected, or to realize that maybe that person you thought you really liked just isn’t who you thought they were.

So really, the equation you’ve been searching for looks like this:

Him and his actions tell you everything you need to know. If he likes you, he’ll show up. If he’s interested, he’ll make time to message you between work engagements. It’ll be the least confusing thing you’ve ever been a part of. You’ll know that if you send a message he’ll send one back. You’re not searching his friend’s snapchat stories because he’s snapchatting you while he’s with them. He’ll try and find you at gatherings. He’ll introduce you to his important people in his life.

If you’re confused, that says enough. Even if he says he likes you, if you’re feeling unsure about it because of the way he’s acting, he doesn’t like you enough to justify spending your energy on him. So make him the “ex” in the equation and find someone who’s less of a problem. You’ll find the answer you’ve been looking for. 😉
